Dear Friends, Family and Supporters:

We're about to take off!

Planet Ottoson is fielding a team of 16 middle school students at the 2008 United States Middle School Model United Nations Conference in New York City from April 3-6, 2008!

Our students have done extensive reseach, practiced debating, and will present their chosen countries' perspectives on a variety of topics at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City this weekend.

This is the world’s premiere middle-school level model U.N. where students may attend by invitation only - and we've been invited! This year, more than 1,000 students from seven countries and 30 states will be attending. Our group is comprised of 13 Arlington middle school students.

We are representing the countries of El Salvador, Sudan, and the Czech Republic. We have been busy researching our countries and our committee topics, as well as learning about the rules of procedure and the flow of debate for the conference. Last week, we will turned in “position papers” stating our countries’ positions on our committee topic.

Each student's family is contributing what they can, and we appreciate your help in sponsoring our trip.

Expenses for one student are:
Train Fare: $100
Hotel Room: $400
Meals and Registration: $225
Chaperone Expenses: $200
Total: $925

Thank You!

Natalie, Maddie, Robert, Jonah, Rita, Antoine, Ethan, Jeremy, Matt, Case, Molly, Alec, Kirby, Louise, Aidan and Danny
